Thanks, Jim.What a great view Doug! That’s a place I need to go.
Thanks, Kyle.On my list too. Looks fun to explore. Interesting shapes and colors.
This is on the shore of Lake Superior and it was pretty cold even then in October, Craig. I have seen images showing pancake ice at this location. I can't imagine how cold it is then.Nice shot!
I bet that little point would be pretty cold in the middle of February!
Thanks for the kind comment, Joe.very nice, looks like a great place for exploring!
Very astute observation, Alan. The lower reddish rocks are the Precambrian Jacobsville Formation and lying unconformably above them are the lighter beige rocks which comprise the mid-Cambrian to Ordovician Munising Formation. The colors in the rocks are delightful.
Was there a period of erosion between the colored lower strata and the less colorful layers above it? The change between the strata is quite abrupt.
Thanks - I knew you would have the answer for thatVery astute observation, Alan. The lower reddish rocks are the Precambrian Jacobsville Formation and lying unconformably above them are the lighter beige rocks which comprise the mid-Cambrian to Ordovician Munising Formation.
