A couple of strange visitors to my backyard, siting in my office I noticed the red bishop siting in our bird feeder and quickly grabbed my camera and fired off a couple of shots through the widow before he flew off. Later that same day the pin-tail showed up, and again a couple of quick shots before it to flew off. We have seen the pin-tail on 2 more occasions, but not the red bishop.
You can get more info. about them from Wikipedia.

That had to have been nice to have these show up! I would love a change from seeing only seagulls and blackbirds. Good job with the quick grabs, it doesn't sound like they stayed very long to pose for you.

Pretty cool birds. Where are you located to see critters like these?

I should be grabbing my camera for quick shot like this for some of the wanderers we see from time to time but our itinerant visitors are not as cool as yours.

So. Calif. Costa Mesa, just wish I was outside and had more time to get a better picture, apparently there have been other sightings in the area.
