October 5 through 8th

I will be traveling from Huntingdon TN, through Kentucky (through Lexington).
I was looking at possibly checking out Red River Gorge when leaving Lexington

Then into West Virginia pan handle (New Martinsville).
We will be leaving the state through Doddridge County.

Suggest, warnings, etc are appreciated.

Thanks

Dan

You won't be far from the Smokys, are you thinking on going there too?

Jim
Unfortunately, we only have two days to get from one cousin in TN to another in VA.
First to Lexington KY, then through upper/west WVA as that is where my ancestors are from.
Yep, hillbilly country
Thanks

Elakala Falls in Blackwater Falls State Park is an easy and gorgeous little waterfall.

Babcock State Park for the grist mill.

Note of caution: I am just exploring WV so these may just be the tip of the ice berg :)

Tim, thanks for the tips. The Grist Mill looks like the best possibility given my route.
I will be traveling from Lexington, Kentucky to New Martinsville, WVA on our second day
I think I can re-route with little increase in travel time
I'm curious what the access is like. Is it a short hike from the main road or a long one?

Thanks!

It's next to the parking lot for the/a park office. No hike involved. Elakala is just a 200 yards or so from the parking lot for the Blackwater Lodge, which is a nice and reasonable place to stay.

Tim,
Changed my route to get to Babcock. We will be driving from TN, through KY & staying in Huntington WVA. Should have few hours to loiter at the park

Thanks
