Camped at Sheldon Antelope Refuge near the Nevada/Oregon border this summer on the way back from the southwest. A place that holds a more legitimate claim than most to 'the middle of nowhere'. Caught this small afternoon storm while exploring some 4WD roads. Shot on Pan F+.

Very cool Heron! This does look like the middle of no where. I haven't been to this place before, but from your description of the location, I am familiar enough to know just how desolate it is there. I like the storm in the background, and I like how your foreground opens up into the storm. Very nice!

Perfect for the sense of isolation. The shaft of rain reinforces that as well.

Thank you all for the kind words.

Thanks Jim. We didn't see any at the refuge, but did spot a few driving across the rest of Nevada. Would love to get back to Sheldon for a longer visit, we just stopped for the night passing through.

I have driven though there and counted about 5 vehicles in 50 miles. This is a great shot.
