This small peak (also known as Red Mt.) is located off the Mountain Loop Hwy in Washington's central Cascades, just west of Glacier Pk. There is a very steep climber's trail up the first section, but it fades out on the upper open slopes of heather and talus. The difficulty results in few visitors, so we had the mountain to ourselves. We camped just below the summit (had to hike a few hundred feet down to a snowfield for water) a couple years ago hoping for a good sunset/rise, which didn't disappoint.

Trail starts in nice old growth.

    Hey Jim,

This is a great story and some great photos to document it.

I was picking out my favorite photos starting with that first one over looking Ruby Lake, I was then picking out your sunset photos and then after that there were just too many great photos that I lost track! :)
