I am really digging deep now. A previously unprocessed pano from a very gloomy day in Deepdale. Ken

    Salvage Saturday

2 images from Cornwall SW England. It looked good on location but I couldn't process the dynamic range and make it look realistic so just abandoned them for 5 years. I don't like to be defeated and was looking for seascapes so spent some time on these 2. Ken

    Salvage Saturday

Good job with this Kyle. One trick, for overbright foliage, that I stumbled across by accident is: adjustment brush the color temperature set to the opposite of the foliage so in this case slightly blue and green, then intersect it with the color range of the brightest leaves. You can also...

    Maelstrom

Jim I went back slightly later, when the wind and waves had dropped a little, with a 100-400mm lens and got this image with large gull perched on the rock, measured the gull and some simple maths I arrive at 40ft high for the stack. This image shot at 1/640s and is still not tack sharp. This...

    Maelstrom

Thanks Alan, this is actually the North Sea not the Atlantic but to the North it is clear all the way to the polar ice.

    Maelstrom

This is another sea stack image from the coast of NE Scotland, actually 2 images merged. Taken during Storm Dudley, in Europe storms are named if the steady wind speed exceeds 40mph, this one gusted between 60 and 70mph which probably explains the less than sharp images. I prefer this one as I...

    Sea stack in a storm

Re-discovered file that I had previously thought was ok but on zooming in looks spectacular. Lots of AI sharpening and re-sizing used to get it to this stage. Oh I wish that I had mounted the 400mm lens but changing lenses on a beach with soft sand flying isn't sensible. Ken

    Thursday’s Task

I am like you Alan. Most of my photography involves wandering around hoping to find something that interests me. There are exceptions eg specific waterfalls or a particular mountain that I have never been able to capture to my satisfaction. Ken

    Thursday’s Task

I used to think "I will get it on the way back" but now I make myself stop and consider whether this would make a better image than my previous intention. Ken On the way to photograph in Glencoe On the way to photograph waterfalls Seascapes were the target Lastly I had gone to this location...

    Waterfall Wednesday 3/15/2023

The cascades are permanent but usually only 1 of the lower ones and much less water. A couple of miles before this on the same escarpment a waterfall was getting whipped off the top and blowing backwards uphill but I couldn't find a place to stop so no image. Ken

    Dreaming

I hesitate to say it but here goes: crop the near bank off and this adds to the minimalism and shifts your eye upwards to that beautiful cloud. I see what you mean about bright de-saturated blues. Ken

    Snow on Friday

Thanks Jim. I am happy that I couldn't have made a better job of these. By the time that I arrived at the location the light was very harsh but I couldn't leave any earlier as the roads were impassable with snow, catch 22. Ken Thanks Alan

    Snow on Friday

Thursday afternoon and evening brought just under a foot of snow, so off to my favourite location to see what I could capture. There may not have been a lot of snow by US standards but it was soft powder and drifted into thigh deep areas that made walking in this pathless location tiring. Well...
