My sunrise shoot in Rainier was planned around getting an image like this...I wanted a clear sky, I like it better that way for the reflection. Sometimes dramatic skies can be overpowering if they are also reflected in a nice still and calm lake. 3 image pano with the Batis 18, because I didn't...
Good eye to capture the smaller scene with great little details and light. Just a thought if you will permit...maybe bring the shadows down a bit, darker, to more exaggerate the back lighting?
Thank you. Just shift, I don't find that I use tilt all that often.
Thank you very much. Yeah...I could just see one coming out from the trees or up behind me!
Thanks Dean...it was such a cool place, one I definitely want to explore more. I think I could hike that area with the 24/45 TSE's...
Thanks Jim. I think it will make a nice print, probably going to do it about 6 feet wide. If the wife approves...LOL.
Thanks Jordan, its such a great lens, really glad it works on the Sony. BTW, good to see you over here...I didn't realize that you were!
Alan, I can see why its a favorite place...I really enjoyed my time there, especially once I got out onto the trails away from people. It is a lot of visual chaos, but I found looking at it through a 50mm lens isolated things better. Thanks for the kind words.
Thanks Ben...just had to get...
I spent several days in the PNW the end of last week and first of this week...my first excursion was to Olympic National Park and the Hoh Rain forest...wow...what a primordial place...I expected a dinosaur to just show up at any time...I was focusing on using the 24TSE for some wide, intimate...
For anyone East Coast or South East...I will be shooting the Elk Rut the last weekend of September in the Smokies, and then coming back in the end of October for fall color.
As of Monday 8/26/19...you can consider the flowers on Mt. Rainier done...there were just a couple of patches of lupines left and they were drying up...there were a few scattered around but they are certainly on the downside of the bloom and it was getting pretty warm as I left.
Thank you...I have to admit...my favorite thing about the switch to Sony is the richness of color.
Thanks Sunny, glad you picked up on that, I really liked the warm/cold balance on this...it was a focus of the edit for sure.
They certainly are, thanks!
Hey Bart, thanks so much. if you make it back, give me a shout. I am always up for a trip to the Smokies...I have three planned for the next three months.
Thank you David.
EXIF:
Sony A7R2
Zeiss Batis 18mm
ISO 50 - f/9
A range of 5 images bracketed was used to generate luminosity masks, and lightly, manually blend in the trees and layers due to the wide Dynamic Range of the scene.
I am hoping that there are at least a few straggler flowers left...weather has been cool so I am hoping they stick around...this bug spray has been effective on the monsters we have here...so hopefully it helps.
Today is #worldphotographyday...how about share an image of where you would rather be, one of your favorite places or where you might be lucky enough to be right now making photographs...
I would rather be in Yosemite or another NP...will be in Rainier later this week...but this image is me...
There is an issue with Uploading Photos (attachjments). I am not sure what the problem is, and I am looking into it. You can still try to Create your Threads and Upload your Photos, but it is hanging up during the Upload.
