A One Eyed Snowman

It snowed last night here in Colorado, so I went out this morning to try and capture some intimate photos of leaves and the snow. It was super cold, the wind was really blowing and whipping the snow around. Some leaves didn't stay long, others were stuck in the ground a bit. Before my fingers and toes froze too much I found this combination in the ground that reminded me of a smiling snowman missing an eye.

Yeah, snow is so rare for me that it's awesome when it happens. I feel like a kid in a toy store.

It was like that for me too for the first dozen or snow driveway clearings, roof clearings, sliding of the road etc. Been living in snow country now for 40 years, 39 years too long.

I loved snow and especially shoveling it when I first went up to Utah after Phoenix but by the time I left 40 years later the thrill was long gone. Especially with a 70' long two car wide driveway. I had a big snowblower which certainly helped but was happy to give it away to a neighbor when we moved to Vancouver.

My favorite comment for those who don't like the rainy Pac NW is to remind them that we don't have to shovel rain

It does fall here on occasions and we do have a shovel to remove it but it is far from a common event. Most folks here have no clue how to drive in it and lack traction tires so as you can imagine driving gets rather messy when some does fall.

What’s odd here in Colorado which does get annual snow is the drivers are horrible in it. You would think they had never driven in it before. Add that to the fact that Colorado drivers are courteous to the point of become traffic hazards to b courteous and I am ready to get back to SoCal where even if people drive crazy, will cut you off and run red lighra, at least they drive....
