2021 wasn't my best year for photography with a lot of health related issues keeping me from getting out to do nearly as much photography as I would have liked and quite a few months where I was relegated to using my iPhone instead of my DSLR gear. That said I did still get quite a few images that left me happy I had taken them in spite of the fact that most of the images I posted on here this last year consisted of archive imagery.
1. I had one of my old DSLR's converted to a 590nm IR sensor and did get some fun results - in this case a dogwood near the Columbia River in full bloom:
2. I added a 720nm filter to my IR converted camera body and got some fun results in our backyard. In this case just after some rain:
3. I spent a lot of time doing neighborhood walks with lifting restrictions that ruled out my DSLR but got to see a lot more of the local spring flowers than I usually do and got some fun treats along the way. These are called Purple Sun daisies and were a delightful twist on the usual front yard flower bed plantings:
4. A backyard flower scene once I finally got cleared to use my DSLR again - out looking for bees and got some really nice backlight on some of the blooms. In this case a lily:
5. Another from the yard - backlighting for a cone flower:
6. The macro capabilities of an iPhone 13 Pro really got my attention with this shot of an oak leaf after some overnight rain:
7. I yanked out the IR converted camera body for some sessions at Shore Acres State Park in early fall and got this shot using my 720nm filter:
8. Spent a rainy day exploring the road that follows the North Fork of the Siuslaw River near Florence, Oregon. Definitely one of the better side trips I took this fall:
9. Did a return trip to Sweet Creek to catch peak colors along the trail. This is Elk Wallow Falls:
10. Most recently on a road trip down to the Brookings area near the OR/CA border:
