To pick the Best of 2022, is kinda like asking to pick your favorite child when you have several children. But I tried to narrow down not necessarily my best astro images of 2022, but some of my favorites. I was actually surprised how many I had to pick from considering I have only been at this for a little over 1 year. Regardless, I hope you enjoy my journey as much as I did taking them.
PS, my bad, but they are not in any kind of time line order, but randomly added to this list.
(edit) I must have run out of memory as I was only able to upload 9, so be it, my favorite 9.... must be my newbieness at image mgt. lol
#1 is a favorite and perhaps a right of passage for Astrophotography, The Horse Head Nebula IC 434 Taken one year ago today!
#2 is the Flaming Star Nebula IC405, taken 11/30/2022, which was 1st light with a new OSC Camera the ASI2600 MC Pro,
#3 is one of my personal favorites as I started to stretch my wings a little with my feeble processing skills. Called the Heart of the Heart Nebula IC1905 taken 10/14/2022
#4 Perhaps not my best image, but one I am still fascinated with, called M13 star cluster which is estimated to contain over 100,000 stars.
Our Milky Way Galaxy has 20 or more of these huge clusters.
My telescope was ever so slightly out of collimation as shown by the 2 main stars at the bottom adding to the image uniqueness, (or so I tell myself)
#5 turns out to be my "Holiday Season" image called M31 The Andromeda Galaxy, which in astronomical terms is close to the Milky Way.
Its estimated M31 has over 1 Trillion Stars, that's with a "T". and it as I recall about 2.5 million light years from Earth.
Called my Holiday image as it was taken this Christmas Night and the image was enhanced New Years Eve day.
#6, another one of my favorites with its haunting details, the Wizard Nebula NGC7380 taken 10/6/2022 and another special fall or Halloween target
#7 The mystical Witch's Broom Nebula SH2-103 which is a part of a much larger supernova remanent taken this summer 7/26/2022
#8 Taken with Halloween in mind, this is called the Soul Nebula taken 10/22/2022
Last but not least #9 This next image is still a work in progress as I only have 5 hours of data invested but with that, I still find it quite stunning. Just taken 12/28/2022.
Tonight, New Years Day eve, if the weather is kind, I plan to add 6 or more hours to see what more detail I can pull out of this marvelous target
