DJI Neo - What do you think?

I am not sure when the DJI Neo was released, it had to be recent, but I just stumbled across it yesterday.

It's certainly not going to replace the Mavic 3 Pro that Alan and others have, but I am thinking it has some possibilities, especially when traveling light, or perhaps backpacking somewhere.

I need to look and see how the camera on the Neo compares to the camera on the Mini 2 that I have. But I really like the rugged nature of the Neo.

Here is a link to DJI.

There is a new forum over on the same servers that handle the Mavic Pilots Forum: Neo Forum. Some folks just got them in hand and are discussing the drone at length. Not really much of a camera drone for starters.

I've pre-ordered. Cheap and easy way to capture footage of a person in the environment. Hiking, biking, etc. No remote necessary.

Thanks for the link Alan.

They are advertising 4K video, so the video must be decent enough. I wouldn't expect it to equal the Mavic 3 Pro, but if it's comparable to the Mini 2 or better, then that's good for me.

I haven't pre ordered yet, but glad you did. How are you planning on controlling yours?

I saw you can control it from the app, but I prefer real joysticks. The FPV goggles look interesting, but that cost puts it out of reach for me right now.

I can use the controller from my Mini4 Pro when I want a controller. I'm planning at this point to mostly use it to follow me around which doesn't need a controller. Launch from my hand with a button press.

Yeah, that feature is awesome.

I need to go look to see if my Mini 2 controller is compatible, but I am thinking it isn't.
