My partner Jeff and I did what we think might have been the first ski descent of Columbia Peak's west face. Jeff got this shot as I started down the steep snow slope just at sunset. This was the perfect end to a very long and tiring day. We slept very well in our bivy just below the face.

Nice light for this shot and your run down the face. The bare rocks have a summer look to them.

What kind of skies are you using for this - downhill or cross country? That looks like a telemark turn you are finishing.

Very cool Jim! That could be quite the honor for you guys. And even if it's not the first you certainly must be in very rare company.

What an adventure. I love these images and photos depicting something I never could have done, even in my youth.

BTW this was taken many springs ago. Alan, we are on back-country or Randonee skis, they look and ski like downhill skis, but have special bindings that allow your heel to lift when climbing up, then lock down for the descent.
