High Desert Volcanism

If you're heading west on AZ HWY 160, just east of Kayenta, you'll pass this view. Several volcanic plugs, lined up in a row to the north, several miles apart. One of the distant peaks is Agathla, sacred to the Navajo People.

Very familiar looking scene along a road I have driven quite a few times. Lots of drama here with the B&W treatment adding contrast to the thick clouds. Good views of these plugs if you head north out of Kayenta on AZ163 heading up towards Monument Valley too.

Thanks guys! Anytime I pass by a solitary rock formation I stop if there are clouds around. God knows most times there are just boring blue skies.
