Hey Dave,

She is a very pretty girl.

In both photos she is tilting her head, that's not good, though in #2 she tilts it less and to The other side. Her teeth in #1 is a bonus, but not sure either photo stands out.

Since you shot it wider, I actually wish she was more to her left so she is on the far side of the letter N and not blocking part of the letters of the word Nation.

I dunno about head tilting.. . It shows her personality a lot. I'm thinking that its pretty subjective for an informal picture of a teen.. I think theres a lot of times where a head tilt is an asset to a portrait. I dont think its not a strong portrait, just a quick shot - still getting the hang of this lens its really hard to think about placement and everything because the focus is also hard to nail at the same time. I wanted to do these in front of a coloful wall or something with no writing and no plants..... but it was starting to rain and we had to leave fast !!

I like the head tilt - it does convey personality to me. But I don't think the shrubs on each side help the image. I'd zoom in and crop this vertically. The first one, with teeth showing is my favorite of these two. Congratulations to her on joining the NHS!

Totally about the shrubs ! I actually wish I took the extra time to center the image, it was a tough spot lines of people though...
