Limestone pavement North Yorkshire

3 images from January 2014 on a trip to buy a bike frame. I was carrying my camera just in case and this time the light kicked off so a detour then a stiff hike up on to the limestone pavements to get a foreground for the dramatic light. Fuji XE-1 Fuji 14mm prime. Heavy rain throughout. Reprocessed this week with the beta version of photoshop which has much better masking. Ken

Your rendering of this light worked quite well. I love the rays of light with the breaks in the clouds as they add a lot of drama to the images.

Looks like it might be useful to start playing around with the PS Beta - these are some really nice results.

Wow Ken! Love your B&W rendering in these. They have a very classic fell with those dark blacks.

That first one is cool in that it shows how windy it must be up there for much of the year. And I think I prefer #2 over #3. I like the large rock in #2 in front cementing the foreground.

Dig the mood that these images create, and wonderful B&W rendering as Jim pointed out. Very nice work and very inspiring!

Thank you Alan. I have sat on the last 2 images for 11 years, thinking that I couldn't deal with the dynamic range but the modern AI masking has allowed me to rescue them. The first one I processed at the time but was unhappy with the foreground but it looks ok to me now. Ken

Thank you Jim, now I am going to try and print #1 but I think the blacks may turn into a muddy mess. If I can get it looking good then #2 or 3 will be next. Ken

Very nice B*W work here. The first stands out for me.
Thank you Jameel. I would never have gone out photographing in weather like this, the break in the clouds was complete chance. #1 has a more complete range of tones but I prefer #3 with the incredible contrast. #1 may print well but #2 and 3 may be impossible.

Thank you sweetgrass. It just shows that it is possible to get an image in almost any weather conditions providing you don't mind getting cold and wet ( very wet). Ken
