Spotlight on the Bride

This is one of the images I captured recently at the wedding I photographed. We were walking down the hallway from her room down to where the outdoor wedding was being held and saw this ceiling light and thought it might be a nice light on the bride. Time is short on a wedding day, so I saw it, asked her to stop, took the photo and we were on our way to the Elevator.

This isn't B&W or mono, it's just the colors were very muted in the hallway.

All comments are welcome,

Jim

PS. We do have a Wedding section, but it's been used so little, I thought it better just to post it in here.

The lighting is attractive (and the bride too). Very good decision on your part.

I've only shot one wedding and my favorite images are the informal ones, especially when the bride wasn't aware of the camera.

Thanks Darryl. It's been a while since I did a wedding. I used to do 2 or 3 a year, but now it's pretty rare.

I agree catching people that forget that the camera is there is really a treat, they seem to show more emotion then the staged shots. I have a few of them that I captured in this wedding. I will post more later.

Nice. Have you tried cropping the overhead light out. To my eyes it makes the image stronger
Thanks Jameel. No I hadn't tried cropping the light out because I thought as the light source it was important to the image. But, I did just now crop it out by scrolling down on the image, and you are right, I think it does make it stronger.

Now you will have me thinking about this one. I thought the light was essential to the image, but now you have me second guessing that. Thanks for the idea! :)

I also think cropped would look better, the light competes with the bride otherwise.

Perfect WB was my fist thought - never easy when you're moving around different place with different light sources!

Thanks so much Michael.

I just finalized the wedding album, and you and Jameel got me thinking, so for the wedding album I did crop the light out. Thanks so much, I just hadn't thought about not having the light in it.

Have u considered a B&W? Seems like, of late, my brain is going color blind :p
Thanks Murali! Your brain is in a B&W mode right now, and I have to say for good reason as your recent B&W's have been awesome.

This probably would look good in B&W, it's already almost mono with minimal colors. The bride doesn't like B&W though, so even though there are a few of the photos of her that scream B&W to me, I left them all as color.
