The Queen Mary - Long Beach

Both my father and grandfather worked fitting the Queen Mary out in John Brown's shipyard in the 30's. They also worked on the Queen Elizabeth. Both were woodworkers so wouldn't have a job in today's world of plastic fittings. I lived in Clydebank up until 1976 and used to watch the emerging ships rising high above the houses to the sound of riveting guns and the flash of welding torches. Clydebank built liners, sadly all gone as the river is too small to build the giant cruise ships of today. Ken
