A thought came to mind while looking at this. Have you tried a shallower DoF on an image like this to where the guy and his horse that are waiting are in focus, but the horses and riders in the arena are out of focus a bit. That separation might add some depth? The other thought would be a slower shutter speed, so what's going on in the corral is a bit blurry from motion, but the horse and the rider waiting are sharp.
