Where Dinosaurs Come From

I spent several days in the PNW the end of last week and first of this week...my first excursion was to Olympic National Park and the Hoh Rain forest...wow...what a primordial place...I expected a dinosaur to just show up at any time...I was focusing on using the 24TSE for some wide, intimate panoramas with lots of textures and details...I am needing some wide format images for the house...this is the first of the compositions I liked.

One of my favorite places on the Olympic Peninsula. Not always easy to find good compositions out of the chaos but half the fun is in trying :)

This shot does a nice job of portraying the almost primordial mood to this temperate rain forest.

Alan, I can see why its a favorite place...I really enjoyed my time there, especially once I got out onto the trails away from people. It is a lot of visual chaos, but I found looking at it through a 50mm lens isolated things better. Thanks for the kind words.

This is primordial for sure. You did a great job composing this.
Thanks Ben...just had to get myself right into the edge of the ferns.

Beautiful. You found some nice light that adds depth and contrast, and handled the exposure and processing perfectly.
Thanks Jim. The light was a mix of soft sunlight through light low level clouds, later it was more dense so light was much flatter...and then as I was leaving the light was much more epic but I was dead set on going to Ruby Beach...

This is super cool Travis! Definitely this would make an awesome print!

The 24mm TSE worked wonders here, and definitely helped create a wonderful pano.

Thanks Jim. I think it will make a nice print, probably going to do it about 6 feet wide. If the wife approves...LOL.

Oh man I like this. Should look very nice printed :) Love that lens too!
Thanks Jordan, its such a great lens, really glad it works on the Sony. BTW, good to see you over here...I didn't realize that you were!

Really wonderful, Travis. Did you both tilt & shift for this pano?

Thank you. Just shift, I don't find that I use tilt all that often.

definitely a place where there'd be dinosaurs. love the comp.
Thank you very much. Yeah...I could just see one coming out from the trees or up behind me!

Thanks Dean...it was such a cool place, one I definitely want to explore more. I think I could hike that area with the 24/45 TSE's and that would be sufficient.
