This wood duck is in water as pretty as he is. It is almost hard to believe. This pond is surrounded by cabins of various colors and that is how it gets so colorful.
I've had this one for a while. I have felt it was almost too much to believe. Thanks for your commentsHe almost adds his own aura to the scene. Hard to beat this pose and light.
Thanks for your kind and funny comments, Trent.I suppose you are going to expect us to believe you didn't paint that on canvas Douglas. That really is a keeper. What a colourful scene.
Thanks so much, Jameel. I always appreciate your comments.Wow. Love the splash of color all round. A pretty bird in the right setting.
Thank you, Ben.Lovely image Doug
I have always liked ducks, Roger. I did anything I could do to go see them when I was young. I used to cut out their pictures from Field and Stream and Outdoor Life. Artists like F. L. Jacques, Lynn Bouge Hunt, and Roger Bateman were heros of mine. In fact, I have a plate block of every federal duck stamp starting in 1968. I even have the first ten years of Canadian duck stamps. Income from each of these federal stamps is used to raise money for duck and goose habitat.Beautiful especially with all the splashes of color in the water. Looking at this and seeing your photo's of the Mandarin duck and others I have a hard time deciding which duck species is the most beautiful, they are all so distinctly stunning.
The more I think about your comment the more I think you are right, Jim. Have fun shooting tonight. I look forward to seeing the results.Hey Doug! This is so awesome! I am not sure if there is a more colorful bird then the Wood Duck. You have to wonder, who named this duck the Wood Duck? I mean... it's a name that certainly doesn't match the colors. It should be called the Rainbow Duck, or something like that.
