One of many fall scenes along the North Fork of the Smith River in the Oregon Coast Range from yesterday. Old growth forests are not very common in the coast range with endless clear cuts over the past 150 years and single species plantings being far more common. I was a bit surprised at how much old growth still existed near the headwaters of the Smith although the area would be very difficult to log given the steep terrain.
C&C always welcome.
