Nature inspired.

Taking images of flowers and seed pods gave me the idea to use them as inspirations for some woodworking projects.

This poppy seed pod had a really pleasing shape with the top that I would never have imagined without seeing it in nature.

I turned a lidded box and then textured and coloured the outside to reflect the impressions of shape and colour of the poppy.

Here is the box with the lid off.

This thistle head was the inspiration for a hollow turning.

You are doing some amazing work with these objects Trent. The texturing you are adding to the surfaces looks like a lot of carving. Are you using hand tools for the carving?

Thanks Alan. Mostly I use Micromotor tools with specially shaped bits. Also a burner to deepen some areas and acrylic paints for the colour.

Truly great work here, Trent! Both the woodworking and the photography.

I think you must have been a master watchmaker in a previous life. You are all over the attention to detail!
