    Waterfall Wednesday 9/17/2025

I know what you mean. The first time I stopped here I was returning home from a desert SW trip and hoped to make photos just before driving back to Portland. The forecast called for rain, but it was on my return route so I had nothing to lose by stopping at the trailhead and hopefully catching...

    Back to School

Thanks Guys! I had known of this place for many years before finally getting out to it. Glad I got to it this year as it looks like it may not have much time left before gravity (or another fire) bring it down.

Lava dominates the landscape along parts of the McKenzie Highway, a seasonal route across Oregon's Cascade Mountains. In this photo, you can see the evidence of a recent fire, along with a healthy growth forest higher up on the slopes of Mount Washington. 590nm converted Nikon.

    Rhyolite Ghost Town at Night

Happens more and more lately. I was in Bisti Badlands, maybe a quarter mile south of the access road, where we found a neat little area of hoodoos. We were there at sunset, waiting for it to get dark. As soon as it got dark, we noticed a tiny bluish light to the north which was blinking. It had...

    Waterfall Wednesday 9/10/2025

A unique point of view at tree top level. With this crop, you'd never know there was a big fire in it's recent past.

    The bridge at Shepperd's Dell

The 590 is arguably the best all rounder conversion for most folks. And you can still add external filters of higher wavelengths if you want, at least you can with typical filter sizes. Can your drone also take external filters?

    A Grass spider.

Some will do anything to avoid sitting for their portrait! And this fine specimen had nothing to fear, an experienced photographer can find the best in any subject , as Trent has shown here.
