We've stopped for the night a couple times at this little ID state park on our way back from SLC. It isn't too far off the freeway and has a nice little campground. I got up in the dark and had the dunes to myself this morning.

This just showed up on my computer desktop (as my wallpaper shuffles) and figured I'd share it. Taken during a nice morning at the Death Valley dunes after the sunrise burn faded. Still got some nice sidelight on the sand. Any thoughts are welcome.

I couldn't wait to try to capture my own version of this iconic view of the Vestrahorn. The green grasses on black sand during twilight looked like they were glowing. I added a 2+ minute exposure to streak the clouds and smooth the ocean waters.

This is from a few weeks ago. The winds had been howling for a day or so, which was great for erasing foot prints, but not so great for shooting. But just as I was leaving in the early morning the winds died down for about an hour or so giving just enough time to get out to the farther section...

This is one of the rare occasions where I intended this as a black and white photo at the time when I took it. I just liked the tones and textures. This was an OP photo of the day a few years ago. Any thoughts are welcome.

Again from Dec '08, my first visit to White Sands, with Jim Fox and Allen Maestas. Three compositions on the same dune, mid-morning light, looking southerly, so the high contrast made black and white a natural choice, I thought. Hope you enjoy. :)
