One of the areas on Eastern Sierra I love to visit. There are so many hills and rock formations, I could spend days there.
This was taken on a stretch of movie road, I think.

Here is one from last year up in the Eastern Sierra up above Rock Creek off of Hwy 395 in California. It's really great to be able to capture the wildflowers blooming like this next to the creek.

Because I'm not ready for autumn to be behind us yet, here are a few images I captured near Conway Summit a few years ago. My goal with these was to isolate some particularly colorful areas with a longer lens than I usually use for landscapes.
Any thoughts are welcome!

These are from a trip a couple of years ago at Gull Lake (along the June Lake Loop). I hadn't been there and wanted to explore some. I haven't shared either one before so any thoughts are definitely welcome.

2) Broader shoreline
I took this on Sunday up in Bishop as we had a our last and final Fall Color FocalWorld meet up. This was on the way up to South Lake out of Bishop, we had all been stopping and shooting on the road up and finally grouped up and stopped in this area. I had jumped across the rocks to get to the...
I went up to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest in the White Mountains in California to shoot the Perseids Meteor shower last Saturday night. And this is just after it got dark and is one of my first shots I took. Until the clouds got a big thicker later, the meteors where powerful streaks of...
In the Eastern Sierra, just north of Bishop I had found these 2 trees side by side. The one stand being green and full of life and the other stand looking dead really caught my eye. Add a field full of flowers and it totally got my attention.

Here is a wider and a tighter shot from when the sunrise pastel colors were bathing the scene in pink. This is Mt Tom in the Eastern Sierra, a classic mountain shaped mountain that is just north of Bishop.

The composition makes Mt Tom look quite diminutive but in reality Mt Tom does tower over the Eastern Sierra just north of Bishop. This one early morning light after a really spectacular sunrise.

Here is an old one from Mobius Arch in the Eastern Sierra in California where I was playing around with a few different types of compositions. Although shooting it with Mt Whitney in the arch is the classic shot, I actually feel that Lone Pine Peak fills it better.
A recent sunrise at Mono Lake in the Eastern Sierra in California. As the sun was rising above the horizon and burning through some clouds I like how these tufa's framed it.

When I was up at Mono Lake a few weeks ago, one of the evenings there was this foam that had gotten blown up along the shore line. Of all my times at Mono Lake I don't recall ever seeing the foam built up like this before.

From Mono Lake a few weeks ago, there was some gentle colors as the sun was beginning to rise. It was a cool, crisp and peaceful morning.

This is a B&W conversion of a sunset shot I posted a few days back from the Eastern Sierra, more specifically from the Mammoth Hot Creek area. Even though going to B&W it loses the sunset colors from the clouds, the way the clouds are lit I found a bit fascinating.

While shooting Mammoth Hot Creek a few weeks back towards sunset, even though the Hot Creek was the focus, I was keeping my eyes open to see what might develop around me and I saw this scene to the south. I really like the shape of that central cloud, it has a bit of an alien feel to it. It...
This from a week ago at Mammoth Hot Creek. We had a choice to make for sunrise, there was going to be one day with clear skies and one day with clouds, so we chose to shoot Mammoth Hot Creek with the clear sunrise knowing that the mountains would get lit up and put on a bit of show with that...
Thousand Island Lake is in the Ansel Adams Wilderness next to Yosemite. It's a very cool place that I backpacked into a few years back. This was back when snow was a bit more common in the Eastern Sierra and the snow lasted well into August. I am not one for keeping man made objects in my...
Here is another one from McGee creek that I liked. Realistically there is only a 50 to 100 foot length that to me will give pleasing compositions. Outside of that either the Aspens run out, or the creek is simply covered with too much debris to make a shot.
