I posted a photo last week of the sunrise in Sedona and said to the right was moody and cloudy. This was the view when the clouds broke a bit.
CC Welcome.
As sunset rolled along, the clouds grew in intensity. There was some gold peaking out underneath, and a bit of pink on the bottom of a few clouds, but even as I saw this scene I was thinking B&W all the way because of the texture in the clouds. This is in Ashland, Wisconsin and taken this last...
This is Lower Blue Lakes in the Sneffels Wilderness area in SW Colorado. It's one of my favorite places to backpack too, or to just make it a short day hike.
On this day, it was in the afternoon, with the typical afternoon thunderstorm heading in. If you look close, you can see rain drops in...
Last June I was taking a detour on my way to Colorado via Yosemite. Tioga Pass was already open, so I took the opportunity to cut across Yosemite to get to the other side. While heading across, I wanted to do a quick run up to Gaylor Lake, to get some high altitude training in for when I got to...
This also is from Yankee Boy Basin. This is one of many waterfalls along Sneffels Creek. There are always some wildflowers adorning the edges of it, but there is also a lot of bare earth and rock on that side. Which the bare areas bug me, so I try to compose to eliminate them as much as possible...
This was from last month in Yankee Boy Basin in SW Colorado just out of Ouray Colorado. It was storming and raining with thunder going off almost overhead. I had a short window when it was only slightly raining to photograph and video. In between I ran back into my Jeep to sit out the hail...
My wife and I were at first a bit disappointed that our last full day of a week long vacation in Oregon was a stormy. We ended up having one of our nicest walks on this beach just south of Cannon. A bit of rain made it a fast and exciting return, but didn't result in an actual soaking. Of course...
I captured this as I was returning back to my daughters north of Denver when a storm came in and it started to rain. I saw the clouds and the two trees and had to make a u-turn to get back to it, but I think it was worth it.
This is shot with the Holga Lens on my Nikon D810. The same $15 lens...
Not being an engineer, I am not sure how effective the bizarre shape of St Monans' pier is to break waves, but I assume it works. What I am sure of, on the other hand, is that photographically speaking the pier is a truly inspiring work of concrete! 2 seconds, Hasselblad X1D II, Hasselblad 30mm...
This was at the end of some really great wildflower backpacking trips in SW Colorado, I ran up to Dallas Divide for the sunset. I never cease to be amazed at how no one is ever there to photograph it seems except for Fall Colors. In the fall it will be a madhouse there with 50 to 60 people at...
I love going to Iceland in winter. The weather in Iceland is always such a leading character in the story and this is even truer in winter, as the images here prove (at least to me, that is). Reynisdrangar, in Iceland, is a very accessible location offering a wealth of different compositional...
I guess it wasn't a total surprise since the inclement weather had me on the look out for it. I had gone down with my daughter and 6 grandkids to the Rocky Mountain Arsenal which is east of Denver a bit. It has gotten turned into a wildlife/nature preserve. So it has bison, deer, prairie dogs...
Thanks to Amy, i got digging for this, i would never post it, but then, it actually tells the story of strong wind and deep currents shaking the tripod and me, when Poseidon is mad...

Have a great light!
Cheers.
At the suggestion of @Jim Dockery I converted my No Shelter From the Storm taken at Little Molas Lake in SW Colorado to B&W. I hope it looks good.
All comments are welcome,
Jim
This was the same afternoon but not at Little Molas Lake near Molas Pass in SW Colorado. The clouds had become their own artists.

This is from last summer in SW Colorado at Molas Pass by Silverton. Those afternoon storms are just so cool there. I left this darker, it may not print well but I think it looks good here.

Well... somewhere between Utah and Death Valley last June I shot this. Maybe Alan can narrow it down with his hawk eyes! :)
There was a storm, and somewhere there was a road, and somewhere I just started driving and exploring and found this.

A dark and gloomy sky, with a storm brewing, over Podere Terrapille in Tuscany. A 2017 photograph created with my Leica SL, Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-90mm and Formatt-Hitech Firecrest filters.
Thank you for viewing, best regards

Two weeks ago as I was heading out of Colorado and driving through the Rockies on the I-70 the storm was breaking up and the sun started to poke through. I am not sure what peak this is, but I know when I saw it while driving I immediately took the next exit to get off the freeway so that I...
There is an issue with Uploading Photos (attachjments). I am not sure what the problem is, and I am looking into it. You can still try to Create your Threads and Upload your Photos, but it is hanging up during the Upload.
