A day in Vienna

Vienna is an astounding city. It was the capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and in the mid 19thC they spent a fortune constructing huge public buildings. The empire fell apart in 1918. I can only show you the phone shots and some of the buildings are so vast that the phones 14mm lens cant fit them in.
Votive Church neo Gothic 1879, large though the church is it isn't the largest in Vienna

The City Hall 1500 rooms unfortunately they were setting up a vast stage in front so this partially hidden view was the best that I could manage

We spent a wonderful couple of hours in the Belvedere Palace, yes another royal palace, there are at least 4 palaces in Vienna. This one is now an Art Gallery and we immersed ourselves in some culture especially Gustav Klimt

Schonbrunn Palace (1400 rooms) originally a hunting lodge but turned into the Emperors Summer Palace, it is only 5 miles from the even larger normal Palace.
The building work is for a series of summer classical concerts.

Amazing architecture in that city. That last image gives us a good idea of the scale of them along with the ornate gardens on the grounds. Only 1400 rooms? A truly humble abode :)

Yeah, 1400 rooms is crazy! I think of a hunting lodge here, and it's of a 2 or 3 bedroom cabin with maybe a vaulted roof.

That's some amazing architecture. I hadn't heard of Gustav Klimt. Thanks for sharing an example of his work, it's quite different.
