A lidded box.

One of my veterinary colleagues is leaving the clinic that I worked at for 20+ years. It is called "River Heights Animal Hospital" thus the R H A H carved on the lid. The owner asked me if I would make a going away gift for her. I had some Yellow Cedar which is a really nice wood for holding detail when texturing and carving. I turned a lidded box (about 3.5" x 4" high), carved a scalpel and created wooden mounts to hold it above the lid. The scalpel is coloured using a silver foil and gold leaf sizing. the box is textured by hand with a small gouge and pyrography. The colour is done with acrylic paints and topped with interference green hue. The interference paints shine as you turn the object and the reflected light hits at the right angle.

A nice gift. Your arrangements and lighting show off the surface sheen very well.

A very thoughtful gift, and the attention to detail is amazing. I know they will cherish this work of art!
