A Wide Sunrise Pano from Last Week

We had a really nice sunrise last Tuesday that I posted a couple of shots from but hadn't yet worked up a panorama sequence from later in the color show when all the clouds lit up. Usually January is the best month for sunrise/sunset colors in Oregon and the southwest tip of Washington since we get breaks from the more constant gray skies and rain that are typical of December. This year was an exception and we ended up with bare skies for most of the month of January so this last week has been a welcome change. Two panels shot at 28mm and stitched in Lightroom.

Thanks Jim - we always seem to get a curve in the clouds like this. I liked the glow behind Mt. Hood with the winter sun angle.

Thanks Jameel - winter means sun angles behind Mt. Hood while summer sunrises are closer to Mt. St. Helens. This sunrise featured a really nice glow behind Mt. Hood.

Thanks John - January is usually our best month for nice sunrises but color shows like this one were incredibly scarce this year.
