Almost Missed This One

I was in a part of my house where I couldn't see the sky when last night's sunset started and colors were going wild when I came upstairs. I grabbed my drone and launched it immediately before it had satellites locked so the drone software stopped my ascent at 100' until it could establish GPS. I was eager to grab the colors while I could so I started shooting while still down low compared to my usual point of view including the waterways to the west. Colors are due to a fair amount of wildfire smoke in our area although a lot less that what it looks like the Seattle area has right now. I do have more shots from a higher altitude still to process. Four panels at 24mm.

Super cool Alan. I can see why you would be excited! It almost looks like an opening in the sky to a new dimension.

Very nice. You seem to be hogging all the nice sky colors. Its been very muted here with the wildfire smoke and sky looking rather murky.

Thanks Jameel - I have been amazed at how many nice sunsets we have had this summer. Normally we get almost none. I did take a few shots at 70mm but the smoke down at the horizon rendered those unusable. I looked at the air quality maps after I came back in last night and your area looked horrible for smoke. East of the Cascades is in the danger zone for bad air quality going up into B.C.
