A trail around Summit Lake at the base of the Mt Evans road leads to nice vistas of the mountains and valleys below. This view illustrates why they are called the Rocky Mountains!

Thanks Alan, you would love that trail. At the top you look down a valley through the Chicago Lakes high mountains on both sides. You would go crazy with your drone!

Hi Jim thanks for the comments. Summit Lake is a great place to stop and rest before going the rest of the way to Mt Evans on that old road. It is high enough to provide beautiful view both north and south, and when clouds are present it can be magic! When they reopen the road (they say next year) it should be a less soul searching drive!
