What if digital cameras were banned worldwide and people had to use only alternative, experimental photography methods—how would this reshape the art and industry of photography?

It's a scenario that is difficult to envision given how entrenched digital cameras and imagery has become in our devices and lives. I am not certain how the technology ban could be enforced/suppressed. We lived with film up until recent times so that avenue would still be available if only digital technology was banned.
