You know what that means….. more reprocessing

IC 1396 the Elephants Trunk. I’d like to get some more data on this later in the year as I only shot a couple of hours. This is the best o could do with what I have

I think you did really good with just a little bit of data Danny. I like the details you have. I see a lot of great details, some nicely defined edges. More data should bring out more color, which will be just what this needs. But for just a few hours, I think you have a solid beginning here.

And I am almost in the same boat, I have been limited in capturing new data, I should go back and rework some of mine too.

Thanks Jim. I used to try and capture all the data to process an image in 1 night. So many of my earlier images are 2 hours of each filter. Some even less depending on the time of year. I’d like to try again with a whole evening on each filter. See what I can get. I’m also thinking of getting a better Ha filter so hopefully that will pull even more detail. Can’t afford the whole set as they are £270 each. I’ll add the other 2 over time.

This is such a faint object - it really does benefit from lots of integration time. That said, you do have excellent detail and rendition, and perhaps you could still tweak up the saturation selectively on this with the data you have. In any case it is a very natural looking result with great framing, detail and depth. Nice work!
