Thanks Jim for the gentle nudge to submit my best of.
WOW!! there are some awesome images posted here; here's my selection, mostly astro.
#1 M78, he brightest reflection nebula in the night sky.
This is one of my favourite astro targets.
#2 LBN528
The image shows a blue reflection nebula, catalogued as VdB 152 or Ced 20, which is radiated by a white-blue star. It lies at the tip of the long dark nebula, Barnard 175, which itself forms part of a dusty complex been called Wolf's Cave (LBN 528).
#3 Horsehead and Flame. If you're into astrophotography this one needs no introduction.
Seeing a picture of the Horsehead nebula in Astronomy Now magazine probably 40 years ago, inspired me to one day capture this for myself. It took a while but I got there!
#4 The Spaghetti Nebula
My project this year was to build a widefield imaging setup around the Samyang (Rokinon) 135mm lens. This target has been on my list for a while but its large size meant
it wasn't suited to my main rig. The Samyang worked wonders, this is a large target but it is sooooo faint.
#5 Andromeda
Probably one of the most photographed regions in the night sky. I have included it here as it was taken with the Seestar S50 smart scope. It is amazing what this little scope can achieve, and it has opened the world of astrophotography to so many people.
#6 Helix Nebula
Another image from the Seestar. I was amazed by the detail this scope captured.
#7 The Helping Hand Nebula (LDN1355)
Those of you familiar with my work know that I love to image dark nebulae. This is one of my favourites, I love the way the 'hand' appears to be holding the blue reflection nebula (VdB9).
#8 The Rotten Fish (LDN1251)
Another dark nebula.
#9 A non-astro shot!!
On par with my passion for astrophotography is cycling. There is no conflict between the 2 as I only cycle in daylight hours!
This is my beautiful steed, which takes me to so many lovely places.
#10 and last but certainly not least....
The 2 girls in my life. Happy days.
