Cloud sculpting in Vulpecula

This is a narrowband (SHO) image of NGC 6823 in the constellation of Vulpecula.

The designation NGC 6823 refers to the open star cluster towards the centre right of the image, adjacent to the long pillar of nebulosity which appears to be pointing towards it. NGC 6823 is also known as the "Cloud Sculpting" star cluster, because the intense radiation and stellar winds from the cluster's young stars are eroding and shaping the surrounding gas and dust clouds into intricate structures like pillars and filaments.

Thanks for looking.

This is a really sweet one Andy. I haven't captured this yet, but I might have to. SHO really shows off those pillars so nicely.
