Coquille Beach

Late afternoon light at Coquille Beach in Bandon, OR from last night. My usual habit is to be out on the beach before sunset and then hide behind the sea stacks so I can shoot in spite of blinding sunlight. In this case there was an approaching storm that offered up some nice clouds and light to play with. Sadly the infamous NW coast marine layer snuff out any hopes for a nuclear sunset coming out of this but I didn't walk away empty handed.

Hey Alan,

Yep that part of the county most often the best shots come as the sun is getting lower and still able to burn through the clouds causing a Golden color.

I like the look of this and the light radiating out from the right. I would crop off the sea stack on the left as visually it stops the image. By not including that left sea stack the mind can visualize that glow from the sun radiating out with no stopping.

Did a lot of head scratching over the sea stack since my primary subject was the angled cloud bank and I didn't want to cut it off. I settled on an edit that went just up to the right hand edge of the clouds but left a corner of my sea stack shelter intact.

The edit looks roomier, and lighter, i like the light, beautiful scene.
I would be tempted to warm up those clouds a bit...

Cheers!
