DJI mini 5 pro

We are on our way from North Carolina to do the Circle Tour of Lake Superior for Fall. Lots of Drone opportunities, but I can’t fly my Air 3s in Canada. (I would have to have applied for a waiver weeks ago). I was excited about the new mini five pro, but of course it’s not possible to purchase in the USA. We did a little side trip to Windsor Canada today and I was able to pick one up at the Best Buy. The 250gm weight allows me to bypass all the registration and application processes. Hurray!

Are you going to be able to get it back across the border without paying the import tax tariff? Should be a nice drone for photography with the 1" sensor.

We already brought it back, though we expect to cross back and forth a couple times. They didn’t ask, I didn’t offer…

Congrats Craig! As Alan mentioned, that bigger sensor sure is great along with the avoidance sensors. I am still using my Mini 2, and I like the Mini's for their small size and how that lets you avoid some of the regulations.

Are you using yours for photography or video or both? I primarily use mine for video, though I will take a few photos with it.

I am the opposite. Mostly stills. I really appreciate the quality improvements in the cameras over the past couple generations. Of course I love the vantage points it provides. Here is one from this summer in Oregon. Jim, I think we first met at the Dallas Divide and believe it of not, one of the pictures I took that day is my best seller on Adobe Stock where it has sold over a thousand times....

That's an awesome image Craig! It's almost magical!

Yeah, I think I am the odd one, as everyone here that has a drone uses it primarily for still photography, which makes sense as most of us here are Landscape Photographers. But for some reason, as much as I have been a photographer for over 50 years, there is something about video that I have transitioned to. I have over 400 video's on my YouTube Channel, and it's fun when I can take my photography skills and use them in video. So that's why video is what I use my drone for over 80% of the time, with the last 20% maybe only 10% being for still photography.

And yeah, we met at Dallas Divide. It's cool how we can meet people and maintain friendships for all of these years. And congrats on the Adobe Stock, and having that image be your best seller.
