Hummingbirds of Ecuador

Before my first trip to Ecuador (with my son!), I had no appreciation of the number of Hummingbird species documented in Ecuador. of ~450 species world wide, ~150 can be seen in Ecuador. Here I post a modest number of representatives from the Cloud Forest west of Quito and the Andes east of Quito. I am fairly confident of the IDs but not absolutely certain. 1- Co;;are Inca, 2,3 - Buff-tailed Coronet, 4,5 - Sparkling Violetear, 6- Sapphire-vented Puffleg, 7,8 - Shining Sunbeam, 9 - Green Hermit, 10 - Tyrian Metaltail, 11 - Buff-winged Starfrontlet, 12 - Long-tailed Sylph, 13 - Giant Hummingbird, 14,15 - Sunbeam and Giant size comparison, 16 - Sword-billed Hummingbird

I am awed, Michael. I love photographing hummingbirds and I have photographed some of the ones you posted. Highest compliments.
I posted two, one from Ecuador and one from my yard in Arizona. Both are multi-flash photographs. I hope to see a lot more of your birds photos.

Awesome set Michael - I am amazed at the variety of them. ~150 species in Ecuador alone? Wow. #12 is fascinating with the really long tail feathers. Must be interesting to see those in flight.

Wow Michael! You have raised the bar indeed with hummingbird photography. I had no idea there were so many there.
