It was originally designed for protection, located above the Rhine river.

Some areas are kept, presumably, as they appeared originally

And some areas are obviously restored

One room is devoted to a display of the armor over the centuries

Time well spent for tourists.

I wish we had stuff like this around on our side of the pond to go shoot. Nice displays and dioramas.

We now know that the percussive forces of artillery being fired causes forms of concussions on the personal handling the weapons so seeing the cannon in the second image in an enclosed area is a bit of an eye opener. Even if you win the battle you can still be the loser in the long run.

I love Castles! When I went to the UK about 15 or 20 years ago with my daughter. I had 2 weeks there, and my planned route had me basically going from one castle to the next. I just find them so fascinating.

I really enjoy the tour you took us on Darrell. You did a great job capturing it and explaining each image.

Thank you Alan and Jim for your comments. We did visit Leeds Castle in the UK once...that was our first castle visit.
