Mexican Hat

A warm September day in Mexican Hat, Utah. From Hwy 163, there is a pullout beside these famous rocks, where you can find many good places to make a photo. I was lucky and had some nice puffy clouds on this day.

Is this a composite shot? I am trying to wrap my head around this view of what looks like the cliffs at Goosenecks towering over the Hat which sits on top of a small bluff just outside of the town. Neat clouds over the cliffs.

I did not move any rocks for this photo - these are actually there. No surprise they resemble the Goosenecks, they are just 2-3 miles away from there and on the same river.

Great shot. I don’t have any pictures of my own of Mexican Hat, but I have seen it with my own eyes. I wish I stopped…

Very nice Michael, that's some different framing with those cliffs behind it. I usually try to avoid those, but with the hat in shadow but the cliffs lit up, it makes for a very effective image.

It's a fun place to stop, I don't all the time as I have driven by it so many times now, but if I can get some nice clouds I will stop.

Nice take on this structure. I have passed by this location on a couple of occasions and both times it was middle of the day with harsh light.
