Outer Hebrides trip day 5 pt1

I am splitting this day into at least 2 parts as I have still to process lots of images, I captured 500 on the day. A few miles North of our campsite is the Luskentyre area and its amazing dunes and beaches. We decided to visit and drove round to look and to go for a walk. It was warm, too warm for comfort, and hazy but with a few puffy clouds. I was guilty of photographing the view, I often accuse other photographers of doing this and my photography improved when I stopped looking at the view and started analysing exactly what it was about the view that attracted me. However, in hindsight, it was the expansive and empty white sand beaches with the turquoise waters that attracted me and picking details would remove the sheer scale of the place. Ken

Rossamil beach, multi shot panorama, I had forgotten just how difficult it is to align incoming waves, even if they are this tiny, with a multi shot pano.

The dunes are extensive and white ponies roam free in them but I only saw 1 in the distance. They would have made excellent points of interest but it was too hot to try and track them down. The figures in this image were a German couple who had been taking their wedding photographs on the beach to tell their friends that they were in the Caribbean.

Luskentyre beach, our campsite is just behind the dark'ish headland on the left.

A crop from the above and probably my favourite image of the trip, soft and gentle with muted colours

You could have easily passed this off as the Caribbean - not scenes I would have expected as I haven't seen many images from there.

I would never have though of this type of beach not being in the Caribbean. How interesting!

And there are white horses that run free? That would have been cool had you found any closer ones.

My favorite is the last one, after I read it was yours too. I typically view all the photos and then go back and read the descriptions.

Jim, there are only 2 ponies and although they are owned they run free. Almost all of the land in the Outer Hebrides is common grazing with cows/ sheep/ ponies free to roam wherever they wish. Ken
