Pinnacles National Park in Central CA...

Anyone ever been? Perhaps @Kyle Jones ? I was looking for dark skies near my hometown of Tracy, CA, and as I was looking at the line of sight from Tracy southwest on google maps, I started to notice some interesting formations. Turns out Pinnacles National Park was founded in 2013. Looks like a mini version of Zion. Two hour drive from Pleasanton @Kyle Jones

I've never been there, but it's been on my list for a while. The problem is that Yosemite is also just over 2 hours from Pleasanton!

Yeah. Yosemite is a place I'd like to go once as an adult, but probably early Spring. I'm also looking at the Carrizo Plain as well for Spring of next year.

I have driven by it dozens of times. I just drove by it 2 weeks ago.

Have you googled photos of it? I have and I have to say it looks pretty boring photographically and quite limited, I would never describe it as a mini Zion, I don't see any comparison like that. It is much more like some of that volcanic land in Arizona that is east of Flagstaff. But maybe that's just me.

I personally find the farming land much more interesting in that area.

PS. But I do intend to eventually stop by there one of these years. :)

Well...I've never been to either, only through Google. Looks like a reason to visit both one day. :)

I stop by occasionally and it is somewhat limited. It's trails only a few trails but the Pinnacles themselves are interesting and wildflower season is nice. I usually stop by on my way somewhere else or as a day trip. Here are a few from over the years.

So now if Ryan goes and shoots Pinnacles and comes away with as nice of shots as Tims, then I guess one of my next trips that way I will have to then finally stop myself and shoot it and stop driving by it.

if you are there make sure you keep an eye out for Condors - that is one of their hang outs - and some parts of the trail had tarantulas on them as it was breeding season -bob cats are frequently in that area
