September 2006

Seems a long time ago. The date was September 23, 2006 (also before Moab went crazy). Every year though I look at this picture as a reminder that it will snow any day now. I was as far up the La Sal Loop road as I could get. Back then they would shut the road down after a couple snowstorms. Now it's the new Moab and it's all "rush rush rush" and nothing closes.

However, this bike was considered radical back then (for BMW), and many thought it ugly. They only made 500 of them in total, I've long ago sold this one - but do have a black version in my garage now because they have become very collectible, although collectible doesn't mean valuable. It was a stepping stone by BMW as they progressed to the S1000rr that they are now famous for.

That stands out really nice Craig being Red like that. That snow adds such a neat contrast. It's amazing to think that was almost 20 years ago!

I don't ride motorcycles, but I will say I don't think this is ugly. And Red isn't my favorite color, but this one looks really cool I think.
