Sweet Accident

I was shooting waterfalls this morning along Sweet Creek and after taking a wide shot of a set of falls was zooming in for a closer shot and apparently pressed the shutter release in the process. I had no idea I had pressed the shutter release until I was reviewing the shots from the day and ran across this capture in between the desired shots. I decided it made a nice accidental abstract.

C&C always welcome.

Interesting result. The technique of zooming while the shutter is open was something that was in vogue in the past. This has that look.

I know I was zooming in after a wide shot of the falls and have the zoomed in shot immediately after this one but I don't recall triggering the shutter while I was turning the zoom ring. I am still getting used to this camera.

If you can't be good be lucky? Isn't that the saying? :)

Not that you aren't good, but as you said sometimes accidents are sweet!

I like it Alan. And like you, I have had some photographic accidents that looked cool, but I could never repeat them again when I tried on purpose.

Thanks - I had no idea there was even a shot on the card in between the shots I did take so seeing this was definitely a surprise. Not knowing exactly how the sequence of twisting the zoom ring and triggering the shutter came to pass makes the idea of replicating this problematic. :p
