The Blooms Below the Flames

A slightly different take on the site known as House on Fire in Mule Canyon. I shot the usual scene earlier that morning when the light had set up the scene so often photographed and then wandered farther up the wash to check out other sites. I stopped back at this site on the way back and decided to grab a shot of the ruins from a different angle using a blooming cactus as a visual anchor down in front.

C&C always welcome.

That's a fun location, and as cool as it is, there are some other neat spots up and down the wash.

I like how you composed this. That plant is super cool for anchoring this. I don't recall ever seeing plants growing there when I have been there. Maybe I just missed them, but it's great that you got it.

Thanks Jim - it's hard to go wrong for just about all of the Cedar Mesa area. It's the heart of the Ancestral Pueblo lands. This was the only plant I recall from under the alcove where this ruin was built and the blooms was caught my eye begging to be included in a shot.
