The thick and thin of Factory Butte

One of my favorite locations in all of the US Southwest. If you look at it from a head-on NW angle, it appears as if the summit almost comes to a point, but if you see it from the east-west view it appears to be a half mile wide mesa. The black sky is a trademark of the 850nm infrared filter.

Also one of my favorite spots. I like that you posted both of these to show how the shape of it changes dramatically depending on the your angle.

You got some really great details, and I love that black sky!

Very nice imaging Michael. I love that place, too.
This rendering of the place makes a stark scene look even more so. I like the textures you teased out of these captures.

I remember seeing a photo of Factory Butte as a child living in North Carolina. When I made my first trip out west in 1982, the first place I wanted to see was Factory Butte, and I have been fascinated with the area ever since. Had some great times there and hope to make many more photos there while I am still breathing.
