Welcome to another round of falling water. My falls for today are a drone's eye view of the scene at the top of Wahkeena Falls in the Columbia River Gorge. Not a view you can get from the grounds this is a 166mm telephoto view taken from 390' above the Benson Recreation area. From a visit in late October.

Pile on with your own captures of falling water :)

From October this year. The Black Linn in Perthshire Scotland. A 2 by 5 shot hand held panorama @2.5s. I shot 100 images and managed to find 9 that were sharp enough to use. It is not really possible to use a tripod here but it was just possible to use the safety fence to steady my hand. I actually shot the bottom half with 5 at 0.5s and mean merged them and then the top half with 5 but deleted 1 as it was blurred and mean merged them. Then photo merged them into a vertical stitched panorama. I know a complicated way to produce an image, especially as it is not my favourite image from here. I produced a lot of pseudo hand held long exposures this year just to prove to myself that it works but I still carry a tripod. Ken

This is a rather remarkable result for handheld pano work with these kinds of shutter speeds. It may not be your favorite image but it still looks quite amazing. I love the dark woods and the deep saturation of the fall colors not to mention the lovely display of falling water.

Proxy Falls in Central Oregon, on 9/11/25 I had the place to myself. This view is from about halfway up the falls on the right side, where you can scramble up the wet, mossy rocks if you dare.

I'm glad you clamored over the slippery moss so we could see this view of Proxy Falls without falling ourselves :p

This is a neat view of these falls with some really nice light.

Wow, Ken! That's beautiful work! I never thought of trying this complicated method, you have my admiration..

Peter I think that this is close to a standard drone technique, but I have been using it for many years (about 15). It is very useful where rain or spray would spoil the image or where lots of people are wondering around the use of multiple images allows you to mask out the people, this only works if the people are moving.
