My offering for this week's episode of falling water is a study in capturing motion in rapidly flowing water. In some of my early efforts at finding my way around the Columbia River Gorge I decided to try exploring Bridal Veil Creek above the main waterfall area. Turns out there was no trail and access was sketchy at best through the thick underbrush so I had to settle for a stretch of some steep rapids for my efforts. My goal for the day was trying out different shutter speeds and f/stops to see what kinds of textures I could get with the scene. I think I tried just about every combination from 1/60 up to 2s. This example was from an exposure of 1/4s at f/8.0 with ISO 100. I liked this particular capture which smoothed out some of the churn but still showed the speed of the steep rapids.
Pile on with whatever flowing/falling water you have.
