I won't be back home til Thursday. My contribution to the Tuesday afternoon edition of Winged Wednesday is part 3 of my headshot series. I can do part 4 next week or move on. Let me know if you have a preference.

The species is actually, "Peafowl." Males are Peacocks and females are "Peahens." However, peafowl of either sex are often referred to colloquially as "Peacocks."

Incredible detail in all of your shots Eric. The impossible bill on the Toucan is captivating when viewed so close. I really like the Peacock as well.

Since we are still on head shots and my bird head shots are pretty much used up I will switch to some close-up shots of smaller things.

A Great Golden Digger Wasp.

BugGuide says this is a Melanoplus bivittatus grasshopper.

A Wolf Spider.

A Cabbage White butterfly.

Every photo is a superlative portrait. Love all those different compound eyes. The wasp has 5 eyes, two huge eyes, and a triangle-shaped trio of small ocelli (single-lens eyes). The grasshopper and bee fly also have 5 eyes. The Spider has 8 eyes and the butterfly has 2 eyes.

Outstanding quality as usual, Eric. Keep those heads coming. That is outstanding work.

My wings shot was a bit of serendipity when I spotted what I thought was a few ducks in my viewfinder and grabbed a shot. Turned out to 10 Canada Geese, 10 Mallards, and Great Blue Heron once I got it up on my screen and got to see the details.

Beautifully photographed, Alan. I usually miss the big picture. Thanks for reminding me to include these in my shoots.
I caught this guy taking off from a fence post on Sunday...

Magnificent photo, Kyle. I love the photo. I'm pretty sure you know this is a red-tailed hawk.
