Winter trip to Havasu Falls

Looking for an alternate to Page/Slot Canyons, Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion or Arches.

Havasu research leaves questions. We don't camp so it's either use the lodge or limit to one day. One day probably is not smart. Anyone with experience want to weigh in on the lodge and food availability would help. General impressions good too. Thanks

There's a cafe in town along with a store. I camped there for one night and saved weight by not bringing food. That worked for me. I'd strongly recommend spending at least a night, so you should book the lodge. I haven't been there. It is a mile from the falls, so going back and forth a few times might get old.

Hey Tim,

Camping is the preferred way to see Havasu Falls since the campground is right in the middle of it. But I do know people stay in the hotel, it's pretty bare bones the last I had heard but it's still functional. The mile hike the first falls isn't ideal, but it's not bad.

And yeah, you definitely need more then one day. I would suggest staying 2 nights, that gives you one complete day in the middle that you can hike and explore.

Thanks Jim. I understand the camping, but the extra hiking actually will help sell the trip

Hey Tim,

This came to me yesterday, the only real negative about going in the winter is the trees will be bare. As far as photography goes, bare trees usually don't work well. Now with that said, I think there are a lot of compositions in there were trees can be avoided, but I just thought I should pass that on incase you hadn't thought about that.
